Account Executive

A.wordsmith is looking for the next great Account Executive to join our team. In this role, the person will support and lead strategic communications programs that center around public relations and marketing campaigns. Account Executives are expected to have a firm grasp on media relations and be comfortable writing for, pitching and working with the press on behalf of our clients. Media relations efforts will be both local and national in scope. The Account Executive is responsible for the ongoing creation of strategic written deliverables including blogs, articles, case studies and newsletters.

The Account Executive is an active member of multiple account teams that will span a wide range of industries, including hospitality, lifestyle, technology and non-profit.  The right person will be comfortable multitasking, working with a variety of team members and clients and meeting deadlines. Account roles and responsibilities will vary depending on the client, account team size and services being provided.

The Account Executive position is full time. A.wordsmith has a hybrid workplace model with our team working in our Tigard, Ore. office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Our Vision for You

  • Provide strategic direction and thinking on accounts.

        • Write PR materials such as press releases, media pitches and articles.
        • Develop media lists, speaking and award calendars and editorial calendars.
        • Manage ongoing media outreach and secured opportunities.
  • Take the lead on creating smart content for clients in the form of media materials (pitches, press releases, media briefs), social media (posts, content calendars) and marketing communications (blogs, case studies, newsletters).
  • Manage media opportunities both afar and up close through media briefings, prep meetings and onsite support.
  • Lead active pro-bono PR campaigns; act as day-to-day account lead.
  • Embrace and lead media tracking, reporting and analysis for clients.
  • Stay on top of media trends and coverage through regular reading, social media listening and research.
  • Think creatively and provide smart counsel and recommendations to clients and team members.
  • Actively partake in key firm initiatives, including DEI, marketing, professional development, culture and client service.
  • Live up to agency core values and abide by our established operating norms.

 

Our Ideal Team Member

  • Experienced communicator who has worked in a PR agency or corporate marketing setting for 3+ years.
  • Big thinker who is ready to think about both a campaign’s “why” as well as “how.”
  • Savvy storyteller able to craft compelling narratives and write PR materials including media pitches and press releases.
  • Detail-oriented researcher who can build strong media lists, monitor coverage and track competitors.
  • Skilled writer with the ability to pass a writing test.
  • Team player who can adapt to different styles, approaches and tones.
  • Creative thinker who brings new ideas to the table.

  • Organized, detail-oriented doer who hits deadlines and can work within tight timeframes.
  • Previous experience with a media database (i.e. Muck Rack or Cision) is a plus.
  • Previous experience with a social media platform (i.e. Sprout) is a plus.

Assistant Account Executive

A.wordsmith is looking for a talented Assistant Account Executive (AAE) to join our team. In this role, the person will support strategic public relations programs. AAEs are expected to have a solid understanding of media relations and experience working on campaign components such as media lists, pitches, monitoring and reporting.
