Senior Manager

The Senior Manager position is one of our firm’s most seasoned roles. People in this position understand how to think strategically while also committing to daily execution and results for our clients. They have proven themselves as able to execute tactically, oversee teams, be mindful of budgets and keep many client-facing priorities in motion. Senior Managers are responsible for managing key accounts and project teams, as well as select staff members. They are also integral in building and leading our firm’s culture and upholding core values and operating norms.

Senior Managers lead programs for B2B companies in tech and professional services industries as well as consumer-facing clients. They provide ongoing counsel and ensure activities align with client scope and expectations. Senior Managers are oftentimes responsible for the development of strategic business content including white papers, blogs, articles and case studies. This position is for someone with 10+ years of experience working in an agency or corporate setting and requires past management expertise.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as account lead for multiple clients, ranging in industry, size and scope
  • Provide counsel to clients and develop program recommendations
  • Oversee and manage budgets for specific client accounts
  • Manage multiple client account teams made up of A.wordsmith team members
  • Manage content development in the areas of marketing communications (white papers, blogs, web copy), PR (articles, media materials) and branding (messaging and corporate positioning)
  • Work with senior thought leaders in a variety of industries
  • Manage ongoing media relations activity for clients in a wide range of categories including professional services, technology, lifestyle and non-profit
  • Work as cohesive and energetic team player
  • Actively partake in key firm initiatives, including DEI, marketing, professional development, culture and client service
  • Live up to agency core values and abide by our established operating norms
  • Ability to plan and oversee organic social media activity on LinkedIn is a plus
  • Manage direct reports

 

Requirements: 

  • 10+ years' experience in a PR agency or corporate setting
  • 5+ years’ experience in management
  • Strong experience leading ongoing PR and/or marketing campaigns
  • Strong technical business writing skills; ability to pass a writing test
  • Strong media relations expertise; experience working with local and national campaigns
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead accounts and provide strategic counsel
  • Ability to self-manage and be proactive
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform within tight timeframes and against client budgets
  • Team player with strong work ethic

Manager

At A.wordsmith our Managers lead and execute strategic marketing, public relations and branding communications initiatives. We are small team and we all wear many hats. Those with a can-do attitude and willingness to go the extra mile are our kind of people. Managers are responsible for digging into the details of our client programs and doing the work. Managers are responsible for overseeing program elements, ensuring tasks are completed and serving as day-to-day point person for clients. They know how to think creatively, multitask and effectively communicate through written and verbal means in order to drive the desired impacts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as day-to-day program lead
  • Effectively overseeing many elements of multiple client programs
  • Effectively communicate with, and provide support to, account teams
  • Manage content development in the areas of marketing communications (blogs, web copy) and PR (articles, media materials)
  • Manage ongoing media relations activity for clients in a wide range of categories including professional services, technology, lifestyle and non-profit
  • Provide counsel to clients and work with senior leads to develop program recommendations
  • Work as cohesive and energetic team player
  • Actively partake in key firm initiatives, including DEI, marketing, professional development, culture and client service

  • ~5 years communications experience in an agency or corporate setting
  • Strong writing skills; ability to pass a writing test
  • Strong media relations expertise; established media relationships is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to self-manage and be proactive
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform within tight timeframes and against client budgets

Coordinator

At A.wordsmith, we like the term “coordinator” more than “intern.” After all, regardless of position or title, every person at the firm plays an integral role and is in a leadership position. We typically hire one coordinator at a time and that person has the opportunity to support a wide range of clients while working with most every member of our team.

Strong time management skills coupled with a go-getter attitude are critical for success. The position is best suited for a student in the final term of college with a reduced course load, or a recent graduate. Coordinators are expected to work a minimum of 6 hours per day, not to exceed 40 hours per week. Coordinator roles are based on a 3-6-month duration with the opportunity to move into a permanent, full-time Associate position upon completion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Researching client industries, projects and competitors
  • Regular media monitoring for clients and firm
  • Media relations program support – development of media lists, identifying editorial calendar opportunities, researching storylines
  • Support media pitching and outreach
  • Own certain internal firm marketing efforts (social media, case studies, newsletters)
  • Actively partake in key firm initiatives, including DEI, marketing, professional development, culture and client service
  • Live up to agency core values and abide by our established operating norms

 

Requirements: 

  • General understanding of public relations
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills – ability to pass a writing test
  • *Recent college course on writing or work experience that involved writing is preferred
  • Ability to self-manage and be proactive
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform within tight timeframes
  • Team player with strong work ethic
  • Working toward, or earned, a degree in journalism, communications or other relevant field

Compensation:

This is an hourly position that pays $16 per hour. This position is not eligible for firm benefits.
